水魚,又叫中華鱉,在亞洲的水產市場上十分常見,中國自古視之為食療價值高的補品。雖則作食用用途的水魚大部分來自養殖場,但同時野生水魚亦買少見少,國際保育機構同中國紅皮書經把中華鱉列入「易危」,表示野生數量大幅減少,但仍可在香港的水塘和后海灣漁塘可以見到他們。
Chinese softshell turtles are a common food source in Asia. Asian regard them as valuable ingredients in Chinese food and dietary therapy. Despite the fact that most of the turtles are cultivated in farms, the wild is decreasing. IUCN Red list and China Red Data Book Of Endangered Animals have listed them as "vulnerable ". Yet they still can be found in fish ponds in Deep Bay and reservoir.
