在自然環境中，我們得到寶貴的自然資源外，也永遠被大自然的生物多樣性驚艷，正如不久前印尼的熱帶雨林中才發現新品種的天堂鳥。
今年地球日的主題是終止塑膠污染。自塑膠產品出現以來，大大地改變人類的生活同時，用完即棄的塑膠亦污染和殘留在生態系統。首當其衝是水生生態遭受破壞，海洋動物誤吞塑膠垃圾或被纏死，間接影響其他扣連的生態系統。
即使塑膠回收系統多麼先進，我們都應先源頭減廢，拒絕即棄用品，以可重用物品代替，以緩解幾十年來過多塑膠對環境的污染。
